The Starcoin 2.0 trial version has been online for a while, and we have received a lot of feedback from users who want to know how to participate in the Starcoin 2.0 network and how to deploy nodes to participate in mining! Here is a detailed introduction:

1. Desktop version node tutorial

If you are not a professional miner and do not know how to operate complex command lines, we provide you with a node version for regular users. You only need to download the desktop version and participate in mining with one click.

Desktop version description:

1.1 Visit the link below and download the client installation package.

https://github.com/starcoinorg/starcoin_node_gui/releases/tag/v0.2.6

1.2 After unzipping, open the [Starcoin_node_gui] application

1.3 Click the [Start] button to synchronize the block data on the chain. After the data synchronization is completed, the node will automatically start running and participate in network mining.

(Note: Due to the large amount of block data, the synchronization process may take 3 to 5 days)

2. Non-desktop node tutorial

If you are a professional miner and want to deploy a node yourself, please refer to this section.

3. About Starcoin 2.0 trial version mining

Q1: Can I get token rewards by participating in mining?

If the node successfully generates a block, the node can obtain the STC token of the 2.0 network. However, Starcoin 2.0 is still in the trial operation stage and has no economic model for the time being. The STC tokens produced by mining are network tokens during the trial operation period and do not have the transaction value of traditional Starcoin tokens for the time being.

Q2: When will the new version of the economic model be released?

It is expected that between Q4 2024 and Q1 2025, a new economic model proposal will be introduced and Starcoin 1.0 assets will be migrated to the new platform.

Q3: Can ST-BOX mining machines be connected to mine?

No. The trial operation phase is aimed at verifying the performance and various parameters of Starcoin2.0. Mining machines cannot be connected for the time being, but users can participate in mining on the network through computer CPUs.

Q4: Why does it take so long to synchronize block data?

Since the Starcoin 2.0 trial version has been running for a while and the network data volume is large, it takes a long time to synchronize, about 3 to 5 days. You can open the node software and hang up while the network is unobstructed. The specific synchronization speed depends on your device performance and network speed. The new node software will also increase the synchronization speed.

Q5: How do I add the Starcoin2.0 Network to Starmask wallet?

  1. Enter the Starmask wallet
  2. Click [Settings]
  3. Select [Networks]
  4. Enter the following parameters accordingly:
