Starcoin is a proof-of-work blockchain that enables smart contracts to power services in decentralized finance, gaming, messaging, social networks and NFTs. We provide the infrastructure that could become part of the metaverse.

While we use the proof-of-work concept like Bitcoin, our chain also enables smart contracts running on additional layers on the platform. We believe Proof of Work is superior to other mechanisms because it rewards people based on merit and competency, instead of stake or existing ownership. It provides the most mature and secure technology for achieving consensus among decentralized systems.
